PARTY:-NTK
Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) is a Tamil nationalist political party active in Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Puducherry, India. It was originally founded in 1958 by Indian politician S. P. Adithanar under the name "We Tamils" (Naam Tamilar) with the aim of creating a sovereign Tamil state, including Tamil-speaking areas of India and Sri Lanka. After merging with DMK for a time, the party was re-established on May 18, 2010, by Tamil actor and director Seeman, continuing the ideology of Tamil nationalism and social justice espoused by Adithanar.
NTK advocates strongly for Tamil identity, Tamil rights, and Tamil Eelam—an independent Tamil state in Sri Lanka. The party appeals to Tamil pride and cultural roots, opposing both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) as its ideological and political adversaries. It emphasizes secularism, social justice, and representation, prominently fielding women candidates and focusing on youth and marginalized communities.
The party's symbol and flag reflect Tamil heritage, incorporating elements like the tiger emblem notably associated with Tamil Tigers and ancient Tamil kings. NTK has grown steadily in electoral influence: in the 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, it contested all seats and secured notable votes despite winning no seats; in 2021, it surged to around 6.7% vote share in the state elections. NTK is recognized as a state party by the Election Commission of India as of 2025.
Led by Seeman, the party runs on a platform of ethnic pride, social equity, and opposition to communal and caste-based politics, seeking to reshape Tamil Nadu's political landscape with a distinctive pro-Tamil voice.
